Welcome to Covert Park Beach & Campground. We hope you will enjoy your stay in the beautiful woods and dunes of the facility. The following rules are to clarify our procedures, and to give everyone guidelines to use while occupying a campsite. If all campers conduct themselves as they would want their neighbors to act, all should be able to get maximum enjoyment from their stays.
Any violation of the following rules and/or policies will, at the discretion of the Park Managers, result in the immediate removal of said camper (and guests) from Covert Park Beach & Campground and may result in prosecution under Covert Ordinance No. 64 of a misdemeanor punishable by imprisonment and/or by a fine.
It is prohibited:
- To consume or bring on the premises any alcoholic beverages or controlled substances.
- To enter or remain within Covert Park Beach & Campground while under the influence of alcoholic beverages or controlled substances.
- To injure, damage, disturb, or remove any plants, shrubs, grass, wildflowers, trees, natural vegetation, wildlife, dune, or to hunt or bait wildlife.
- To throw, deposit, or in any fashion litter the property of Covert Park Beach & Campground with any rubbish, waste articles, things or substances whatsoever, whether liquid or solid, including animal waste.
- To operate any machine, radio, disk, tape or other device which amplifies sound or creates artificial noise; or to be in a gathered crowd which either annoys, injures or endangers the comfort, repose, health or safety of others; unless this sound or gathering have been permitted by the Township Board of the Township of Covert, the Park Managers, or is necessary for the protection or preservation of property or the health, safety, life or limb of a person. Noise that may be heard at another campsite during quiet hours (10:00 PM EDT to 7:00 AM EDT) shall be presumed to annoy or endanger comfort.
- To use profane, lewd, threatening or abusive language; to fight or quarrel; to be loud, boisterous, unruly or disorderly; or to engage in unlawful conduct or offences against decency against other campers, visitors, managers, employees or agents of the Park.
- To loiter in the parking area and/or inhibit the movement of vehicles or guests through the Park.
- To possess or discharge any firearm, BB gun, bow and arrow, sling shot, cross bow, weapon or any fireworks, whether legal or illegal in the State of Michigan.
- To damage, move or remove any Park property, equipment or other facilities without permission of Park Managers.
- To commit any trespass upon any private property.
- To solicit or peddle any articles, services or goods. Nor to distribute any written materials.
- To leave a campsite unoccupied for more than 24 hours.
- To fail to obey any command of a Park Manager, employee, or agent of the Park or to interfere or hinder a park ranger during the performance of his/her duties.
- To allow animals to be left unattended, animals must be kept on a leash (not to exceed ten feet) under immediate control of owner. Animals are not permitted on the beach or in the water of Covert Park Beach & Campground. Dangerous animals as deemed by Park Managers will not be allowed in the Park.
- To burn fires outside of their designated fire rings or grills; these are not to be moved from their established locations. No trash/garbage is to be placed or burned in fire rings or grills. No fires on the beach.
- To fail to obey the posted speed limits.
- To not keep your campsite in a clean, neat, and orderly fashion during your stay and upon departure. Waste containers (as furnished by the Township of Covert) are to be used for disposal of all trash and refuse.
- To have unauthorized motorized vehicles, watercraft, trailers, etc. in the Park or on the beach. All non-RV trailers shall be considered vehicles and must be assigned a parking pass. No watercraft may be stored on the beach nor any motorized watercraft allowed within the general swimming area or on the Park’s beach. Use of powered bikes, mopeds, 4-wheelers, motor driven contrivances, or any other utility vehicle in the Park or on the beach is prohibited.
Campground Policies:
- Only one recreational unit is allowed per site.
- A maximum of six persons or one immediate family are allowed to camp on one designated campsite. Group site maximum occupancy is twenty people.
- A maximum of two cars or storage trailers are allowed per site and these must fit on the site and out of the roadway.
- Reservations must be made at least one day in advance of arrival. No “same-day” reservations will be accepted; availability will be limited to walk-ins only. Campsites may not be reserved for use by a party of which the reserving person is not a member. Reservations may be held with Visa or MasterCard only.
- Cancellation Fee policy:
- Less than two weeks prior to reservation: One night’s stay will be charged.
- No-shows will be charged one-half of entire stay or 1 night’s stay, whichever is greater.
- For all but six (6) of the campsites a person or group or recreational unit may not occupy a site for more than 14 consecutive nights; person/group and recreational unit must vacate the Park for the number of nights equal to their previous stay.
- For six (6) of the campsites a person or group or recreatopnal unit may not occupy a campsite for more than 14 consecutive nights; person/group and recreational unit must vacate the Park for the number of nights equal to their previous stay.
- Check-in time is between 3:00 PM EDT (Michigan time) and 10:00 PM EDT (Michigan time). No check-ins will be allowed after 10:00 PM.
- Only registered occupants may enter or remain in the Park between the hours of 10:00 PM EDT (Michigan time) and 7:00 AM EDT (Michigan time).
- Renters must be at least 18 years of age. Anyone under the age of 13 must not be left unattended at the beach or camping area.
- Use of the beach is permitted between 7:00 AM EDT and 10:00 PM EDT. No glass containers are allowed on the beach.
- Checkout time is 1:00 PM EDT (Michigan time). Sites must be cleaned and vacated.
- Covert residents’ seasonal passes are registered to specific vehicles.
- Covert residents must provide one of the following at time of entrance into the Park to receive resident discount:
- Valid driver’s license
- Voter registration card with valid photo ID
- Current utility bill with valid photo ID
- Property tax bill with valid photo ID
- Automobile registration with valid photo ID
- Any person or organization wanting a discount for camping or day use beyond established rates must be approved by the Covert Park Advisory Board.
- No refunds will be made on Day Passes.
- No permanent or semi-permanent structures may be erected or any permanent or semi-permanent alterations made to campsites.
- No person may enter into or remain within Covert Park Beach & Campground after the end of the camping season as established by the Park Advisory Board.
- Utilization of the campground may be denied, or occupancy at the campground may be revoked at any time, if the occupant(s), in the opinion of the Manager(s), shall be likely to be a detriment to public health, safety and welfare of other campers or persons utilizing park and campground facilities.
- Managers and employees reserve the right to refuse service to any person or group, within the bounds of the stated rules and polices.
- Any person or group wanting to reserve 4 or more sites must mail a deposit of 50% of the total cost or 1 night stay (whichever is greater) within 5 business days. Upon check-in only one form of payment for entire remaining cost will be accepted. If cancellation occurs 1 month- 2 weeks prior, 25% of deposit will be returned. If cancellation occurs within 2 weeks of reservation start date, the deposit is non-refundable.
